Marilore’s market.

You’re on your way home from work and realize that the larder is empty. You could go to a supermarket for boring dinner ingredients, but if you’re lucky it’s Tuesday and you happen to be passing by the Marché de Marilore, the coolest little outdoor market in town. Here you can buy everything you need for dinner: a starter (how about a delicious ham-wrapped egg en gelée for €1.20?), meat, pasta, fruit and vegetables, cheese, dessert and wine. This is a one-woman show; Marilore drives in from the Yonne department and sets up her market on the Rue Gustave Goublier in the 10th arrondissement on Tuesday from 4:30pm to 9pm. When you make your purchases, she will tally them up by hand – on paper! Once you’ve finished your shopping, have an apéritif in the cool café O Gustave right next to the market.
