STREET ART GOES INDOORS
The Artcurial Briest-Poulain-F. Tajan auction house in Paris will hold a sale of street art and contemporary art on June 29 at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Among the street art is plenty of graffiti art (hot, hot, hot in France at the moment; one show was recently held at the Grand Palais and another will soon open at the Fondation Cartier) by the likes of Crash, Futura 2000, Banksy and Seen, as well as a series of three color photos by JR, first exhibited in monumental blowups on a hillside in a Nairobi slum. The contemporary art offerings includes paintings by two artists featured in “Dans l’Œil du Critique: Bernard Lamarche-Vadel et les Artistes” at the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris: Jean Degottex and Martin Barré. The works can be viewed by the public June 26-28, 11 a.m.-7 p.m.
