Paris Update What’s New in Paris

MINING FOR CHOCOLATE
Patrick Roger: Paris chocolate-maker extraordinaire Patrick Roger, known for the quality of his wares and such outlandish creations as chocolate monkey and hippopotamus sculptures, has opened a new shop near the Place de la Madeleine, done up like a chocolate mine. 12, cité Berryer, Village Royal, 75008 Paris.

REWARDS FOR RESTAURANTS
Two French restaurant guides have come out with their annual awards. Le Fooding’s picks: Best restaurant: Roseval. Love at first sight: Abri. Best counter: Restaurant Pierre-Sang Boyer (we disagree; click on link for details). Gault&Millau’s Paris choices include Chatomat, one of our favorites, in the “young talent” category.
