WOMEN IN POP ART

Taglialatella, a new gallery specializing in Pop Art and located in the upper Marais (10, rue de Picardie, 75003 Paris; tel.: 01 44 78 23 68), kicks off the fall season with a kicky show of images of women by Pop artists. While many of the paintings, prints and drawings by such artists as Tom Wesselmann, Mel Ramos and Alex Katz seem to treat women purely as sex objects (perhaps most notably Ramos’s “Toblerone Tess” (2007), with a luscious nude blonde stretched out seductively on a Toblerone box), the lovely portrait of Ingrid Bergman by Andy Warhol shown here is highly respectful, if not worshipful. We hope and expect that the gallery will be putting on shows by female Pop artists in the near future. Through Oct. 18.
