JAZZ GETAWAY

The sunny southern town of Perpignan is the unlikely site of an ambitious jazz festival, Jazzèbre, to be held Oct. 1-25 in a variety of venues, including a moving train and a ruined château. Among the headliners are American bluesman Eric Bibb (on opening night), jazz great Ahmad Jamal and French bass player Henri Texier. Films, picnics, exhibitions, debates and tastings will further liven up the proceedings.
