NEW PARIS MUSEUM

French President Nicolas Sarkozy announced Monday that a new museum, the Maison de l’Histoire de France, would open in Paris’s Marais in the handsome 18th-century mansion, the Hôtel de Rohan-Soubise, currently home to the Archives Nationales. The gardens, currently closed to the public, will open next spring, and the first exhibition should be held before the end of 2011. Now it remains to be seen whose vision of French history will be presented. Let the historical warfare begin!
