Every season, Paris attracts a colorful array of talented fashion designers from around the world. During Paris Fashion Week, which ended last weekend, the city became a veritable Tower of Babel bubbling over with creative energy. For those who were tired of attending mega-fashion shows where binoculars are needed to see the latest trends, many designers, among them the Australian Martin Grant, the Lebanese Basil Soda and French native son Pascal Millet, held smaller, more select presentations at the city’s palace hotels. While many of the designers are from far-flung places, their view of fashion as timeless elegance was inspired by a local lady: la Parisienne.
