PARIS A LA CARTE

March 28, 2011By Paris UpdateWhat's New Eat & Drink

Spring wine: One of our favorite Paris restaurants, Spring, now offers one-and-a-half-hour wine-tasting classes in English, complete with gourmet snack, on Thursday afternoons. Click here to reserve.

La Cuillère d’Or: Lucie Joudiou, an apprentice chef at gourmet restaurant Laurent in Paris, and Sandrine Baumann Hautin, a translator, may not have been born with golden spoons in their mouths, but they were still able to win first prize for professional and amateur chef, respectively, in the second Cuillère d’Or cooking contest, for women only, organized by the Cook and Com’ agency and held in Val d’Isère. Both triumphed with Bresse chickens, Joudiou combining it with apricots and prunes and Baumann Hautin cooking it two different ways: poached in a parsnip parmentier and fried with orange butter.
