A concert of Massenet arias given at the Palais Garnier by singers of the Paris National Opera Atelier Lyrique last week offered not only a wonderful opportunity to hear excerpts from rare Massenet operas like Ariane, La Vierge, Griséilidis and Hérodiade, and more familiar ones like Manon and Werther, but also a chance to hear the voices of many stars of the future. Among the many highlights were mezzo-soprano Marianne Crebassa and soprano Andreea Soare, names to look out for. Nick Hammond
