My favorite place for a coffee or, if I can linger, breakfast, is Le Bal Bullier (22 Avenue de l’Observatoire, 75014 Paris; tel.: 01 43 21 06 06). Best quality/price deal: an excellent baguette, fabulous confiture de cerise, sublime butter, fresh-squeezed OJ and Illy coffee. Reading materials on hand: International Herald Tribune, Libération, Le Monde, L’Equipe, Le Figaro, etc. Big windows, glorious on a sunny day, right across from the RER Port Royal.
