TRAVELS WITH ULYSSES

“Les Goufres Amers,” by Cyril Hahn.

French children’s book writer and illustrator Cyril Hahn has turned his attention to a story for adults, The Odyssey, the subject of an intriguing show of his paintings and collages, “Dans les Pas d’Ulysse,” at the Galerie L’Aléatoire (29, rue de Bièvre, 75005 Paris). These charming works are the fruit of an eight-year process of illustrating his obsession with Homer’s story, inspired by his Greek ancestry. The collages incorporate bits of wood, cork, stones and other detritus picked up on his travels, along with handwritten quotations from The Odyssey or lines of poetry. Through February 2015.
